Romilly Weeks is a news broadcaster who has covered events from all over the globe for ITV News.
She has covered royalty – from the sad days of royal deaths to the happier occasions of weddings; politics, from the positivity of election days to the votes of no confidence, and warfare as far and wide as Iraq and Ukraine.
Romilly is also available to hire for speaking and hosting engagements at Great British Speakers
Romilly has presented live from countries as far and as wide as the UK and US, France and Australia, Ukraine and Thailand. She has reported on British Army in the Second Gulf War, and again during the Iraq War, was caught up in sniper fire in Basra, and reported live from Thailand after the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004.
Most recently (2022) Romilly has reported from Ukraine, on the Russian conflict. In one live broadcast, air raid sirens were heard in the background and she had to combine presenting with finding a safe space. Refusing to bow down to the attacks, she vowed to “carry on” with her live broadcast.
Romilly has also reported on five royal tours, two weddings and two funerals, as well as reporting on the inquest into Princess Diana’s death. Most famously, Romilly interrupted her maternity leave to report from Westminster Abbey at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge where she interviewed esteemed guests and family friends of Kate Middleton. She has a close working relationship with the royal family and is one of the ambassadors for Prince Charles’ charity, The Prince’s Trust.
Romilly is also very passionate about promoting a healthy work-life balance as a mother;
“Coming back to work after having children, it takes a while to find your feet again. It was also a good movement to have a pause and think about where I wanted to go with my career. I had been a general news reporter and also royal correspondent, but it was pretty clear to me that Westminster was the place where the most interesting paths were leading.”
