Why Your Website NEEDS an Explainer Video –

30th May 2022

… and the importance of finding the right voiceover for the job!

Ensuring your explainer video attracts the right audience is all about how your video connects with them – and a professional voiceover will help you truly engage the viewer and deliver your message.

Did you know that when it comes to online product reviews, 66% of consumers prefer to watch a video as opposed to reading a text-based review?

And 88% of people say they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service from watching an explainer video, as well as 78% who have bought a piece of software or app.

Therefore it’s no surprise that explainer videos are a key tool to market a business. 87% of marketers agree that an explainer video has increased traffic to their website, whilst 90% have seen a direct increase in sales thanks to their explainer video. But what is an explainer video and why are they so successful?

What is an Explainer Video?

An explainer video is a short corporate video – usually between one and three minutes long, (with over 68% of consumers preferring sub-one minute videos) – that details a company’s product or service. Many companies like to showcase this in the form of an animation, but they can also be pieces presented to camera by an in-house employee or narrated by a voiceover artist.

You’d usually find them either on the company’s homepage or product pages, depending on what the explainer is about.

Why Finding the Right Voiceover Is Cruital for the Sucess of your Video?

When it comes to tone, Wyzowl reported that 75% of consumers decided not to buy a product because the video voiceover annoyed them. An informal and chatty tone is preferred by 83% of consumers. So, it seems that finding the right voice for your business or product is just as important as the product itself.

Therefore, also important to note that the voice you choose is representative of your brand. So you need a professional voiceover that reflects your company values, branding and message. It may be self-explanatory, but if your product explainer is aimed at young mums, then a female voiceover artist is more likely to resonate with your audience, than a male voiceover.

So, if you haven’t got an explainer video on your website already, then here are just a few reasons why you should get one…

  • Easier to understand your product brands
  • Helps to connect with an audience – builds confidence in your product
  • Show personality
  • Can be shared easily
  • Can monitor your views
  • Helps with SEO
