Connect With Nature – Mental Health Awareness Speakers

16th Apr 2021

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (10th-16th May) is ‘Nature’ and if the past year has taught us anything, it’s the benefits of being outdoors.

#ConnectwithNature

At Great British Speakers we have an abundance of health and wellness experts, qualified and experienced to help you, your employees, teams and/or audience transition through some of the toughest experiences.

We also have many incredible nature and wildlife specialists, keen to share their expertise on sustainability, conservation and the environment –

However, to find a speaker who ties the two together so wonderfully is pretty niche… but not at Great British Speakers!

We have speakers such as Alex Staniforth – a record-breaking young endurance adventurer, author & fundraiser, empowering others to put ‘Mind over Mountains‘ to achieve their goals.

Mind over Mountains is a a charity to restore mental well-being and resilience through outdoor experiences.

In 2017, Alex won a the Pride of Britain Regional Fundraiser of the Year award in 2017. To date, he has raised over £100,000 for mental health charities.

But if Alex’s approach seems a bit daunting, then check out these speakers below who have utilised nature to positivity impact not just their mental health, but also their physically health too!

In 1989, Jo Wood (former wife of Rolling Stone, Ronnie Wood) was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and since set about researching natural ways to heal her body. With the help of a naturopath, she overhauled her diet, cutting out all processed foods and switching to clean, organic produce supplemented with herbal remedies.  Nowadays, she speaks on the benefits of an organic, natural wholesome diet and complementary therapies.

Similarly wellness speaker Lauren Vaknine also promotes an holistic, back-to-nature approach.

When Lauren was 18, she was wheelchair-bound and riddled from head to toe with  juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. After years of suffering, she realised that the only way to get better was to take her healthcare into her own hands, so she set about learning everything she could about the body and how to heal naturally from the root cause.

Lauren has spoken at events for both the UK and European parliaments, hospitals, conferences, meditation and yoga retreats and corporate educational days. Her talks are educational yet interactive, motivational and inspirational. Everything Lauren speaks about is from personal experience which gives audiences an instant connection to her.

As well as then above, we have many more motivational wellness experts keen to promote the benefits of getting outside. Perhaps an Olympian like Dame Kelly Holmes, who is also an advocate for positive mental health changes, or a TV presenter like MIND ambassador Anna Williamson

And if you’re looking for someone a bit of ‘out of the box’ then perhaps former Royal Marines Commando Chris Thrall, or urban explorer Daniel Raven Ellison would be the perfect speaker for your event?
